Mr. Hongxing Cui is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Ocean Science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), with an anticipated graduation in August 2024. Throughout his academic journey, his research has focused on the application of machine learning to tropical cyclones (TCs) and ocean-atmospheric interactions. Hongxing’s PhD project has centered on understanding and predicting tropical cyclone-induced ocean responses using explainable machine learning techniques. Additionally, he is interested in artificial intelligence (AI)-based applications in remote sensing sciences, such as image classification and segmentation.
