Circumpolar Star Trails
Albert Kwok Hing Kong
This picture is created by combining nearly 900 images taken over 5 hours at the Lulin Observatory in Taiwan. I was observing with the 1m telescope shown in the lower left of the picture. Because of Earth's rotation, all the stars appear rotating around the north celestial pole which is in the upper right of the picture. City light and planes across the Taiwan Strait are clearly seen.
